ASUS IoT, a global provider of AIoT solutions, unveiled the RUC-1000 series at Computex 2025, marking a significant advancement in edge computing. Billed as the world’s first ruggedized 2U 19-inch edge AI GPU computer with PCIe 5.0 support and capability for 600-watt GPUs, the system is designed to bring powerful AI inference and real-time processing closer to the data source.
The flagship RUC-1000G model delivers up to 4000 TOPS of AI performance, built on the latest Intel® Core™ Ultra 200S processors with up to 64GB of DDR5 6400 MHz memory. With support for NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs and PCIe 5.0, the unit offers data center-class acceleration in a rugged, compact edge form factor.
Designed for high-demand environments like machine vision, autonomous vehicles, and industrial automation, the RUC-1000G can operate in extreme conditions ranging from -25°C to 60°C. A thermally isolated design separates the GPU from the main chassis, preventing performance throttling even in harsh deployments.
Edge-Ready, Modular Design
Built to standard 2U 19-inch rack specifications, the RUC-1000G supports full-rack, half-rack, and desktop configurations, providing flexibility for deployment in tight or specialized environments. It also includes ASUS’s Q-Release Slim feature, allowing for tool-free GPU removal to simplify maintenance and reduce downtime in mission-critical settings.
For added versatility, the system can be wall-mounted, rack-mounted, or placed on desktops, supporting a wide range of industrial infrastructure needs.
Fanless Form Factor for Embedded Edge Use
Complementing the RUC-1000G is the RUC-1000D, a compact, fanless, half-width edge computer built for environments with limited airflow or tighter space constraints. The unit supports multiple RAID configurations (RAID 0/1/5/10) and includes an optional hot-swappable SSD chassis capable of housing up to six 2.5-inch SSDs.
The RUC-1000D is equipped with extensive I/O, including 10GbE LAN, dual 2.5GbE LAN, ten USB ports, and six COM ports for system expandability. Wireless and cellular connectivity options are enabled through M.2 slots for NVMe, WiFi 6, and 4G/5G or CAN bus modules. It is also certified to operate in extreme temperatures from -25°C to 70°C, making it ideal for smart city and infrastructure applications.
Secure, Remote-Manageable, and Built to Last
Both systems are certified to MIL-STD-810H for durability and feature wide-range DC-in power (8–48V) with ignition control, ideal for in-vehicle and field deployments. For cybersecurity, they meet IEC 62443-4-1 standards, providing built-in protection against digital threats.
Each unit includes an integrated iBMC (intelligent Baseboard Management Controller) for out-of-band (OOB) remote management. This allows system administrators to monitor, troubleshoot, and restore systems without on-site access, reducing downtime and operating costs for distributed edge networks.
Industrial AI at the Edge
With AI workloads growing in complexity and the need for real-time decision-making expanding beyond the data center, ASUS IoT’s RUC-1000 series delivers the compute power, reliability, and security required to make edge AI deployment scalable and sustainable.
